Not a good blogger

Well I've been a major slacker.
James is 3 months old! He's growing so fast, I can't believe it! I love listening to him talk and laugh. So far, his eyes are still blue so I hope he keeps them! He looks just like his daddy so it would be nice if he had something of mine. :)
I'm so thankful he's such a healthy, happy baby.

Michael is learning to be quite the hunter! A few weeks ago he got an elk so we've been eating elk burgers for dinner, a lot! And elk steaks. I'm not a huge fan of elk meat, but I'm learning to like it.

I can't wait for Thanksgiving! It's by far my favorite holiday. We'll spend some time with our own little family in the morning and then head to Michael's family's house later in the morning. Then we'll have dinner at my parents house. It's so nice to be able to spend time with family.

Gotta go now, but I'll try to keep up on my updates! Chow, followers!

Time Flies!

Time flies when you're having fun, eh?
James will be 9 weeks old tomorrow! I can't belive it. I took 6 weeks off to stay home with him. That time went by fast too. It was really hard to come back to work, but it was good too. I like my job so that made it a little easier. Michael's mom watches James so that helps too. It would be really hard to leave him at day-care. He has a little bit of collic (sp) so I feel bad for the little guy. Hopefully he'll grow out of that pretty soon. When he wakes up in the morning he's such a little sweety and he smiles all morning long. He has kept his blue eyes! Well, so far anyway. He looks just like his daddy. So I hope he at least gets my blue eyes.
We're really looking forward to my sisters wedding! She's getting married in December so that will be fun.
Michael got another dog. Our dog, Champ, was adopted by a neighbor boy and his name was changed to Taco lol. So we got a blue tick coon hound. His name is Blue. He's a pretty ugly little puppy. He looks just like the dog on 'where the red fern grows.'
I'll post pictures later!

He has arrived!

He's finally here!!!
James Anthony Romero was born at 5:00pm on Friday August 21st. He weighed 7 lbs and he was 20 inches long. And completely perfect.
We were supposed to go in Wednesday night to be induced but there were too many ladies already having babies so they didn't have room. So we went in Thursday night and I started contractions at 5:00. I had them all through the night and finally got an epidural at 11:00am. He finally decided to come at 5:00pm on Friday. There were a lot of other babies born that night and day too.
It's been a week and I'm head over heels in love. He's the most wonderful baby. He still has his days and nights mixed up, but we're getting it figured out. I'm so glad Michael took some time off work to help! And he has been SUCH a big help!
I never posted a belly pic. This was on Wednesday before I went in to be induced.
This is the outfit we took him home in. In about 18 years he's going to look at this picture and ask why we put him in such a dorky outfit. Isn't it stinkin' cute?!

Cute little guy...

Almost a smile!!!

Just in case you were wondering

Yes, I'm sure these blogs are getting old... No baby yet...
Stubborn little guy!!!

Still...

August 9th came and went and there's still no baby...
So I'm still sitting at work, still fat and still pregnant.
My next appointment is on Wednesday. I dunno if the baby will make it 'til then or not, but I guess we'll see what happens. If I don't have him by the end of the week, they'll induce. I really don't want to do that but maybe by the end of the week I'll feel differently.

Not yet...

No baby... No signs of baby...

Well, I AM an expert!

Well I'm 39 weeks today and things are going just great. We're crossing our fingers that the baby will come this week. I guess I can deal if he waits 'til next week. These last few weeks are the most unpleasant, but I'm so excited for the little guy to get here!!!
At my last ultrasound we saw his little face. He has chubby cheeks and no hair at all. He's a healthy little boy and everything is great. Now he just needs to get here!
So, there are a few things I've learned about pregnancy that I wish someone would have told me.
1) Never, ever pass up an opportunity to go to the bathroom.
2) Going on a bumpy ride will not make labor start, it WILL make your stomach hurt.
3) There's a good chance you know better than the doctor, don't let him or her upset you too much if you think you know differently. I love doctors and I know they're experts, but this is my body and my baby.
4) On the same note as number 3, the ultrasound tech doesn't know, or have the authority, to tell you anything other than the sex of the baby.
5) Stretch marks hurt.
6) Drinking milk can help your acid reflux/heartburn.
7) Don't buy maternity clothes too early, they won't fit you late in the pregnancy when you can't get ANYTHING to fit right.
8) Buy a fan for the bedroom.
9) When people tell you that you look good, resist the urge to give them the finger or call them a dirty liar. They mean well.
10) When the doctors tell you that you won't have any more uncomfortable exams til the end, they don't mean labor, they mean the last month of your pregnancy. Yeah, that was an unfortunate suprise for me.

I guess those are the biggest things I wish someone would have told me. Hopefully someone can be a little more informed than I was. I'm sure I'll have another list once I give birth lol.

Everything has been good here. We're getting the baby's room ready and trying to put everything away. We got so many gifts, it's hard to find a place for everything. Whenever I approach the pile of clothes, diapers, and toys I get so excited I can't concentrate on putting anything away.
Michael and Adam put the changing table together and they're working on the crib and dresser. This little baby is going to be a tad bit spoiled. And he'll definately well dressed thanks to all my family and friends.
Hopefully the next time I update I will be telling you all about my little boy!

I survived day one of the 24th Celebration.
Today is day two. My mom made a great breakfast and now we're just getting ready to go the parade in Manassa.
Yesterday we went to the parade in Sanford. It was pretty cute. We also went to the quilt show and had a nice lunch at my mother-in-law's house. I mostly took the rest of the day to sleep and relax and try to stay cool. It was really nice to have a day off work!!!
Michael and some of his family went to the Rodney Atkins concert last night. I didn't think it would be that fun so I didn't go. I think they had a good time, though.
There is so much planning and anticipation that goes into this one weekend. Cleaning house, getting ready for company, planning meals, planning activities, and trying to keep everyone entertained and happy. It's a lot to take in in just three or four days but I love it!
This weekend always reminds me of my ancestors and my pioneer heritage.
Last night I asked my dad about some of our ancestors and so he got his genealogy book. I love reading those! It's so cool to look at all the names and find connections with people. He also brought out my grandma's journal. I didn't get through a lot of it, but it was so cool to read her thoughts and know what it was like when she was alive and my dad and his siblings were younger. She died when I was 4 and I spent a lot of my life afraid of her because she had Parkinson's disease and I didn't understand why she would shake. I only have two memories of her and one was when my cousin and I were VERY small and we were telling her 'we want cake' and she was getting a cake out of the oven for us. She was a great baker and she loved her grand kids. And they loved her! I can't wait to get another chance to get more into her journal and read more about her and my grandpa.
Well it's off to the parade!

This is what summer is all about!

Well the baby shower on Saturday was wonderful! I was so glad that everyone who came was there. I saw a few friends I hadn't seen in a long time and I was suprised by a few family members who came. I was happy to see everyone who was there!
We got a lot of cool gifts and I can't wait to put everything in the baby's room.
He sure is an active little guy! He has been moving non stop this week. I saw the countdown on my blog and it said only 19 days! That's so crazy.
I'm really looking forward to this weekend. It's the 24th of July and we're having my aunt and uncle and cousin stay with us. We're having a lot of family on both sides, I'm looking forward to all of them! This is what summer is all about!

Just a blog

Well I haven't updated for a while so here it is.
My sister, Lindsey, and I went to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince on Wednesday. We decided to skip the awful crowd of 14 year old weirdos and go to the Monte theatre. (I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be spelled theater because it's a movie. But I hate spelling it like that) We went there with the last HP movie. Good choice, again! I saw one of the same families there. Two cute little boys with mops of red hair and a sister with a mop of blonde. They were so cute.
The movie was awesome!

I'm watching The View at work and Whoopi is talking about a lady hitting her in the back of the leg with her stroller. The ladies are mad at her because she flipped out on the oblivious mother. What the heck?! If you were hitting me in the heels with your stroller you're gonna get that thing shoved down your throat! So be careful!
Also, I would like to announce that if you're in line somewhere. Getting closer to the person in front of you DOES NOT make the line go faster. Back off and get the heck out of my bubble before you get decked by a big fat pregnant lady. And when I'm not pregnant, I will still deck you because you're so close to me, I can tell you had onions for lunch.
Vent over :)

My baby shower is tomorrow! I will post pictures as soon as I can.

4th of July weekend

Michael and I had a fun weekend. We stayed at Michael's family's cabin at Conejos Ranch. We lit fireworks, read magazines, played games, had camp fires and ate lots of s'mores! I love summer!
I don't have a lot to say in this blog. But I'm so thankful for our free country and those who defend it. It sometimes seems harder to be patriotic on the 4th of July because I like to remember the things this country was founded on, while everyone else is trying to change it. Nevertheless, I love living in America and feel so lucky to be here.

I've been hearing a lot lately about how everyone needs to leave the valley, "at least for a little while." "It's good for you," "You'll learn and see so much," "You need to find out what you want out of life," are just a few things I hear very often. I heard it even more often when I was about to graduate high school. I never left the valley. And I'm totally happy. I think that some of us need to leave and find out who we are and what we want out of life. But some of us already know. Some of us already know who we are before we leave this place. I know that a lot of people don't like it here and that's ok. But I love this place. I love the small town that I live in. I know who I am, and I know what I want out of life. And I didn't have to leave to realize that. It did take me a while to figure out that I wanted to marry Michael and be a mom. But I stayed here and it's all turned out great. I can still travel and see lots of places. But what's wrong with living where you grew up? I really love it here. I know that some people leave and they come back different and sometimes improved people, and that's great. But I don't think that leaving is for everyone. I think you need to ask youself two simple questions.
What do you want out of life?
Who are you?
I figured out who I am, and I know what I want out of life. In fact, I'm well on my way to getting all those things I want. I love my job, and my husband. I can't wait to be a mom and I think that is one of the most important things I'm supposed to do here.
There a few things I love about living here.
I love that I can walk outside at night and see the stars.
I love that I am related to a huge population of people and I see them often, especially during basketball season.
I love that I know my neighbors.
I love that I know and love all the people I go to chuch with.
I love that when I answer the phones at work, more than half the time I already know who is on the other side.
I even like going outside and being able to smell the cows.
I like that I can go to the grocery store and know everyone who is there.
I love that I can drive for 10 miles and wave to 10 people, at least.
I like that I can drive through town and know who lives in each house.
I love that I grew up with cousins and so will my kids.
I LOVE living under the bluest skies you'll ever see.
I like that I'm surrounded by mountains.
I like that most of the stake attends a missionary farewell, even though we don't have those anymore. ;)
I like that the town sign says population 750.
I like that I can get pulled over by a cop and the whole town knows about it in 10 minutes.
I like that I knew how to drive a tractor before I knew how to drive a car.
I like that I learned to drive a car when I was 8 years old.

Father's Day Weekend

Michael and I had a fun weekend. We went to Albuquerque on Saturday and went to the temple. It was a really good session. Michael was running late and they had to restart the session so he and three other people could come in. It was pretty funny, I’ve never seen someone so red lol. He just smiled, though. After we went to the temple, we went to a really good restaurant with some of the members of our branch. It was a really cool Brazilian restaurant called Tucanos. They bring this awesome meat to your table on skewers and they slice it for you and you grab it with these little tongs. They also bring hot pineapple on those skewers and that stuff is amazing! I definitely recommend that place. www.tucanos.com
We also had to speak in church on Sunday. It was hard to fill up the whole time so they also asked a couple other people to stand up. I think it went pretty well but I’m glad it’s over. I have to say that it is MUCH easier speaking to a branch than it is speaking to a ward.We had a good Father’s day. After church we ate dinner with the Romero’s and opened cards. Then in the evening we went to the Sand Dunes with the Dunn’s. My grandpa was able to go and he had a really good time. My dad had a good time too. My niece loves playing in the water! She didn’t want to get out and go eat and then all night she asked if we could go back to the water. We’ll have to take her back sometime. She’s really starting to talk a lot, she’s such a little character. Champ also went with us and he had a great time. He loved playing with the kids and eating all the leftovers.
Next year we’ll be celebrating Father’s Day for Michael! The baby is growing fast! I didn’t have a baby bump for quite a while, but it seemed like in one week he had a growth spurt. Michael had been working out of town for a week and when he came home his eyes went straight to my stomach and he reached out and touched it like he couldn’t believe the baby was really in there. It was pretty cute.

Already June

Well here's another Summer Saturday. Michael and I went to the mountains today. He wanted to fish, but we couldn't really find the perfect creek. He got his line wet, but the only fish he caught were too small to eat. I didn't feel like fishing, it's hard to bend down these days! :)
Champ went with us, he's such a good little dog. And he loves fishing!
We were going to meet my family up there for a picnic but the weather wasn't great and I was more than ready to come home and have that little trip over with. My mom is a good sport, she's still cooking burgers and hot dogs on the deck outside in the freezing wind.
Michael has been working out of town this last week. It's not easy, but sometimes it is nice to have a night or two alone at the house. And we're glad that he is staying busy at work. Everyone who has a job these days is pretty fotunate.
I know I promised pictures, and I had some cute belly pictures and dog pictures, but somehow or another ALL the pictures and videos got deleted from our camera. We can't figure out quite how that happened so we're just blaming Casper for now.
I'll be 8 months pregnant tomorrow. It's so crazy to think that I'm going to be a mom in one month. We're pretty much ready for the little guy to get here and everyone is looking forward to it. I can't believe it's already the middle of June! Time flies when you're having fun :)

What a slacker!

Well I've been a slacker as far as blogging goes... We can't rip off the wireless internet at our house anymore so it's hard to give updates haha.
David went to the MTC on June 3rd. We're all so proud of him. When they went to drop him off at the MTC, they literally had to drop him off at the curb. There were three people in the center who had the swine flu, so they wouldn't let visitors go in. They had about 1 minute to get his luggage out of the car and say goodbye. It's hard enough to say goodbye after the little movie they show in the center, but they just dropped him right off lol. I don't know if I've mentioned it on my blog, but he's going to San Benardino, CA. I think he leaves the MTC on June 24th.
We got a puppy! He's a black lab named Champ. He's such a good dog and it's very hard to leave him in the morning. I can't imagine what it's going to be like to leave my little baby...
I have to go back to work now, but I will post some pictures this week.

I love spring

I'm so proud of my beautiful yard. When you walk out my front door all you can smell is a mixture of lilacs and apple blossoms. Here are some pictures to make all you apartment dwellers jealous! I'm sorry I can't include the smell, it's amazing.

Michael has found a new love... Here is a picture of him and Bailey. Yes, after Champ...

And his forever love...

Baby bump picture coming soon.

Bring it on!

Well these past couple of weeks have been busy! And I love it! The summer months are always so busy. Bring on the busy weekends! It's a nice change from the sluggish months of winter.
Micheal has been busy catching fish and enjoying the weekends. I'm so glad it's spring time here in the valley! I planted flowers and the apple tress are blooming in our back yard. It's so nice to have a big yard with trees and flowers and green grass!
We've still been busy with birthdays. My grandpa Rogers turned 95 on May 6th! We had a little party at his house. He was happy to be in his home again and he sure enjoyed spending such an important day with family members. All his favorites are in the picture with him. We were glad we could be there for him! He has such a contagious smile don't you think? My sister-in-law will celebrate her birthday on Thursday and Michael's grandma Romero had her birthday last week too.

April is the birthday month!

April sure is a busy month for Michael's family!
Nancy's birthday was the 21st and David's was the 24th and Maxine's is the 26th. David had a little party last night at his parent's house. Michael enjoyed entertaining everyone with his comedy. David got some great gifts and we all had a good time. Michael and I got him a watch that he will be able to use for his mission.
Maxine's party is today and then Michael gets to go fishing this afternoon. I need to clean our house and get my primary lesson ready. We'll see how that goes, it's so nice outside I might get a little distracted.
We are loving living in Sanford. It's so nice to have a yard and to NOT have upstairs neighbors. The commute to work is a pain because I'm the only perfect driver on the road and no one else seems to understand anything. HA! Hopefully we will be able to find me a puppy SOON!
Michael is going to have to work out of town all summer so I'm going to need some company. He will probably have to work in Pueblo four days a week until the time for the baby gets closer. I'm not a big fan of being home alone at night so I'm crossing my fingers for a yellow lab.
Basketball Playoffs are on TV in our house. ALL THE TIME! I really don't think it's necessary to watch this many basketball games. It wouldn't be so bad if the Nuggets weren't so good this year. I'm all for watching sports here and there. But the best games out of SEVEN?! Goodness. Ok, vent over.

First blog

I guess I should start by introducing the Romero's!
Michael and I got married September 6, 2008. We live in Sanford and we both love it here.
I work as an Admin Assistant at a bank. Michael works as an electrician and he's also working very hard in school at Adams State. Hopefully he will be done with school in a couple years.
I'm pregnant! With a boy! He will arrive sometime in August. Being pregnant all summer will be fun! HA! I'm soooo looking forward to summer! I can't wait to go camsping and eat s'mores and hot dogs and potato salad and water melon. And go fishing and have picnics and go to parades and go to the sand dunes. A little baby will make it a lot more fun too!
Stake Conference is this weekend so that's pretty much what our two days are dedicated to. He's at the priesthood session now and then we'll go to the adult session tonight. I think there is a general authority here to speak to us, but I'm not sure who it is. I'll update that later.
I'm excited to start a blog, hopefully I can keep faithful with it!
